History
Dynasty Apparel Corporation, celebrating thirty years in business, was founded by brothers Ignacio, Lorenzo, and Armando Mendez in 1980. The business was started by creating graphics and innovative merchandising ideas and selling them to sportswear manufactures in Florida and New York.
The manufactures contracted Dynasty to design and screen print their sportswear collections. The company was selling product to beach shops in Florida, the Bahamas, and the Northeastern seaboard. They also expanded into resorts, theme parks across the country, and the cruise ship industry.
Avid sports fans, the brothers realized the enormous business, opportunity in the team licensed apparel industry. In 1991, they secured their first professional team license with the National Football League. With this agreement, Dynasty became the first Hispanic owned and operated NFL licensee.
During 1992 and 1993, they also obtained licenses for the NBA, MLB, and NHL. With these properties, the company experienced healthy growth as it carved a niche for itself with small sporting goods stores and family owned fan shops.
